Background:
I spent a weekend with my (then) two-year-old and three year old granddaughters, and we danced in circles, jumped in puddles, and gazed at the moon. It was a delightful time of laughter and having childish fun. The song came to me as I drove home from that visit. I wanted my granddaughters to know that I am always with them, even when I can’t physically be there. With families being scattered all over the country to live or to work, it is a song to share with loved ones who are absent.
Lyrics:
Dancing in circles, splashing in puddles, wondering at the moon
I feel like a child, carefree and wild, and it’s all because of you
Butterfly kisses that touch my cheek, cuddles that comfort me in my sleep
There’s no place I’d rather be, than with you, watching you smile
Chorus:
So wish me on a star, no matter where you are
If you’re lonely or if you are blue, I can be there for you
Close your eyes and think of me, wish me on a star
If I’m not there to comfort and care, if I’m far away from home
Know there’s nothing more I’d rather do, than to be walking hand in hand with you
Butterfly kisses that touch my cheek, cuddles that comfort me in my sleep
There’s no place I’d rather be, than with you, watching you smile
Chorus
Repeat chorus
Wish me on a star x2
Spoken – Just wish me on a star . I love you….
